چکیده

Cellular effect on meniscal healing Mauck and Burdick performed a review of the basic science of meniscal healing, and factors that affect it. They point out that over the age of 40, patients have far fewer meniscal fibrochondrocytes at the tear interface and are therefore less able to up-regulate production of matrix proteins and enzymes in a healing response. They discuss studies that suggest this cellular factor is more important than vascularity. In-vitro studies comparing healing responses in completely vascularized foetal menisci are comparable to poorly vascularized juvenile menisci, and far superior to similarly vascularized but poorly populated adult menisci[3].

Outcomes After Biologically Augmented Isolated Meniscal Repair With Marrow Venting Are Comparable With Those After Meniscal Repair With Concomitant Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction.

BACKGROUND Meniscal repair in the setting of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has demonstrated superior outcomes compared with isolated meniscal repair. Limited evidence exists for the effects of biological augmentation in isolated meniscal repair, particularly as compared with meniscal repair with concomitant ACL reconstruction. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was ...

Meniscal Repair

The meniscus was once considered a functionless remnant of muscle that should be removed in its entirety at any sign of abnormality. Its role in load distribution, knee stability, and arthritis prevention has since been well established. The medial and lateral menisci are now considered vital structures in the healthy knee. Advancements in surgical techniques and biologic augmentation methods h...

Clinical Results of Meniscal Repair Using Submeniscal Horizontal Sutures

Background:  Parts of the implants placed over the meniscus during meniscal repair can wear down the cartilage in the contact zones and cause chronic synovitis. Placing horizontal sutures under the meniscus may overcome this potential hazard. The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate the midterm results of arthroscopic meniscal repair using submeniscally placed out-in horizontal sut...

Arthroscopic Meniscal Repair: “Modified Outside-In Technique”

Background:  Despite the introduction of different techniques for meniscal repair, no single procedure is superior in all situations. The new method for meniscal repair named “ modified outside-in technique ” aims to achieve higher primary fixation strength by an alternative suture technique as well as avoid disadvantages of outside-in, inside-out, and all-inside suture procedures. Additionally...
